It can take anywhere from a week or two, to several months before you notice any weight loss. It all depends on how active you are, what exercises you perform, and what your diet consists of. The types of exercises performed along with the amount of daily exercise you recieve can also affect how quickly you see weight loss results. Generally, one to two hours of cardiovascular exercise is preferred for individuals who want to lose weight.
If you’re looking to build muscle, you’ll need to start weight training. Lifting heavy weights effectively rips your muscle fibers and as the body repairs, it replaces damaged muscle fibers to form new strands. As a result, this increases the thickness and size of the muscle.
Choose heavier weights for lower reps and take a longer rest between sets. It’s important to train the muscle groups you want to build a few times per week. And don’t forget to increase your calorie intake – you need to feed muscles if you want them to grow.
Leave the comparisons at the door! Everyone has to start somewhere, and everyone moves at a different pace. We’d recommend finding a personal trainer, or a class setting that you feel comfortable in to get you more familiar and confident in your abilities!
